Nepal
My trip to Nepal was very healing for me, surprisingly. Seeing the great Himalayas with my own eyes, shivering through the night at 4°C while staring at the majestic Machapuchare and Annapurna under a bright full moon was one of the most significant experiences of my life. I witnessed a vibrant culture, rich heritage, and stunning architecture while walking through old temples and marketplaces. The atmosphere was fun, the people were friendly, the food was full of flavor and history.
Maybe they were right about the healing power of Nepal after all!
Kathmundu
- Kathmandu Durbar Square
- Swayambhu Mahachaitya Temple
- Chandragiri Hills
Kathmandu Durbar Square was a walk through the ancient spiritual world of Nepal. Such a stunning display of colors, heritage, and architecture.
Chandragiri hill gives a panoramic view of some of the Himalayan mountain ranges. The experience up there was so calming and cooling, definitely one of the highlights of my trip.
Saw a lot of friendly monkeys at Swayambhu temple!
Pokhara
- Sarangkot
- Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave
- Pumdikot
I watched the sunrise from Sarangkot, where I got a glimpse of local village life – people making warm clothes and shawls on traditional weaving machines and kids running around small huts. As I walked up to the top of the hill, I was met with a 180-degree view of the Annapurna mountain range, with the city of Pokhara just waking up in the valley below. Seeing the first ray of red sunlight reflecting over Annapurna was amazing.
I watched the most golden sunset of my life from the top of Pumdikot hill. The 360-degree view from what felt like a spot up above the clouds is something I cannot describe in words. 😉
Dhampus
This was my favorite part of the trip! I stayed at the Dhaulagiri View Hotel, perched on top of a hill in Dhampus village. From there, we had an amazing view of Machhapuchhre, one of the most uniquely beautiful and unforgettable mountains I have ever seen. Fun fact: the peak remains unclimbed and is forbidden to climbers due to its religious significance and sacredness.
I watched the sunrise there with little to no crowds around me. Seeing the first red rays of sunlight shining over the peak of Machhapuchhre was amazing.
One of the highlights of my trip to Nepal was the night I spent there. I was privileged enough to see a full moon shining over the great Himalayas, truly, a sight to behold! The wind was chilly, but we stayed warm enjoying a BBQ around a bonfire.
